Multi Sectoral advocacy campaign on October 6 2025 in White Nile State - Funded by UNCEF

On October 6, 2025, Green Dream Organization (GDO), in partnership with UNICEF and collaborating closely with the Ministry of Education and Guidance, the Ministry of Health and Social Development, and the Child Welfare Council, is committed to advancing child protection and youth empowerment in vulnerable communities.

GDO recently concluded a comprehensive, multi-sectoral Advocacy Campaign for Child Protection and Rights, directly targeting host communities and refugee settlements in the White Nile region.

The core objective of this campaign was to shift awareness into action by strengthening the official protection mechanisms available to the most vulnerable children—refugee and host community children alike—who face heightened risks of violence, exploitation, and neglect.

Key Campaign Highlights:

• Facilitated high-level discussions with Ministry of Health and Education officials to integrate child safeguarding protocols into routine service delivery, ensuring staff are trained to identify and refer cases.

• Advocated for increased resources for the Child Welfare Council to improve case management and psychosocial support services in remote areas.

• Utilized public forums, radio broadcasts, and targeted workshops to reach over 500 community members, raising awareness on child rights, reporting mechanisms, and the crucial role of community vigilance.

GDO Also, launched a focused empowerment session in the Dabat Bosin community (Algabalin locality, White Nile State) aimed at equipping young people with the skills to drive positive change.

This session brought together young men and women from both the host community and refugee populations in a collaborative learning environment. The activity specifically focused on empowering youth to identify, articulate, and advocate for pressing community issues, from water access to education quality.

Session Outcomes:

• Participants strengthened their leadership and collaborative skills, culminating in the creation of joint Host-Refugee Youth Action Teams focused on shared issues, promoting social cohesion and integration.

• Youth received training on developing clear advocacy messages, engaging local leaders, and peacefully mobilizing their peers to address community needs, ensuring their voices are central to the recovery process.

• By focusing on empowerment, the activity contributes to the long-term resilience of the community, turning potential beneficiaries into active agents of change.

Future Call to Action: The success of this session demonstrates the power of investing in youth-led initiatives. GDO plans to scale this model, requiring dedicated funding to expand training and support youth-designed projects across more localities.

On Monday, March 11, 2025, we launched a vital initiative in the Al-Salam locality, specifically in the Khor Al-Waral and Umm Sangour camps and their host villages. We provided 150 girls, survivors of various forms of violence, with small projects designed to enhance their economic and social conditions.

These projects, born from ongoing dialogue and reflection within discussion groups, were selected based on the girls' aspirations and dreams. They range from women's and children's supply stores, embroidery and sewing projects, and daily household supply shops, to soap making and livestock projects. The girls were trained in small project management and then divided into groups, showcasing remarkable cooperation and team spirit testament to the life skills they've developed through our training and awareness programs.

Empowering girls with these small projects is a crucial step in building their capabilities, strengthening their rights to work, production, and independence, and reinforcing the community's role in supporting their journey.
